Esther sin historie
Esther George; a 21 years old girl is the first born in a family of 4 children. She lives with her father after her parents divorced three years ago. Esther joined the Bonga program in 2019 at Speraspora Bonga center in Kibwegere area and later joined Vocational Education Training Authority for her cooking sessions as part of the Vocational skills training.
Immediately after OCODE introduced the football program, Esther did not hesitate to join the team and enjoyed playing the game which she thought was not possible for her to play.” Playing football has given me courage in overcoming different challenges in the community knowing that I am capable of doing the things that I was not sure that I will be able to do them.” said Esther
“I used to see people playing football in television but I didn’t know how they exactly play with the ball but currently I am so confident on myself and I believe that someday I will be an inspiration to other girls in the football game.” added Esther.
Meeting with different types of people and other successful female players such as Sophia Mwasikiri, a retired female football player from Tanzania has motivated the female players including Esther that it is possible to achieve their dreams.
Mr. George John; a father to Esther is very proud of his daughter. He mentioned of how happy he is that his daughter can play football and the increased self-esteem that he has been noticing since her daughter started joined the football program.
